TSU’s gaming wrap for 2015…

22 Dec

Well obviously I will start with LOTRO…

It has been announced that LOTRO in 2016 plans to increase the level cap  to 105… as well as getting to ‘THE BLACK GATES!’

Yeah an odd number that but stretches that finishing line for my RK Tsukuld to 20 levels away…

I have just moved from expansive ‘quinta’ with swimming pool to tiny inner-city apartment. Kids will be getting full time education next year, wife may be able to start working again and maybe at last this will turn the family direction in a positive way… Argentinian inflation and economic woes have stymied our comfortable dream! Now no more hour n a half commutes to work… I can walk in 30 mins 🙂 No more rising before dawn to grab an hour of LOTRO before 3 hours of travelling, 9 hours of working, to return to family duties and eventual sleep (if lucky!).

I hope to have more time for gaming and life in general. The kids will miss the pool this summer but will be able to join clubs (kung fu starts tonight:)), visit museums, get out and about and meet people. Me, myself and I as well!

So my wife’s computer has now been repaired to be picked up soon. LOTRO to be installed and played again…yippee, Withy has now opened server transfer… my kin is active and busy by the sound of it on Laurelin.

CoC my commute diversion since latest update has got more grindy…th8 and playing is mostly like running through mud… it still has its moments but am far from interesting in playing… more an idle thought lolling in the background.

My kids have got me into MARVEL Contest of Champions on the ipad (gift from my mum :)) …fun to gained from basic fighter… has rekindled my interest in Marvel superheroes… my comic collection, inheritance in trust for the kids, locked half a world away in my Mum’s attic, pined after. Am tempted to also install MARVEL HEROES MMO on the PC as well, to be played with the kids right, who am I kidding…the wife! LOL

And EVE… what of that glorious space game that instigated me to create a second blog… I hope to get back into space at some point, let’s see how my new found gaming time goes.

I also have an invite to join HeadBurro in GW which may just run on the new improved computer…

Anyway, in these festive times here are some tunes to celebrate the higher level cap:

U2 Elevation

Red Hot Chili Peppers Higher Ground

Higher Ground – Stevie Wonder

Cypress Hill – I Wanna Get High

Erma Franklin-Higher And Higher

Marvin Gaye – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

May be treating myself to a new BMX this Xmas… (its been 10 years since I last had one) …so I can hop to work…

BMX bunny hopping…HIGH!

And 2016 is already just around the corner…

New World Order

Tsuhelm goes political – SORRY!

I don’t hide my lefty leanings in my posts but I don’t really do political blogging, one of the great things about gaming is, when it works, apolitical and shouldn’t be sexist and ageist either. Indeed gaming in its pure form is quite a non discriminatory activity.

SO one of the EVE blogs I follow stepped outside its normal ‘controversial to EVE community’ ethos and discussed the impact of the ‘migrant’ crisis in Europe.

GREEDY GOBLIN: http://greedygoblin.blogspot.com.ar/2015/10/i-told-you.html

If you are asking, ‘What is the migrant crisis in Europe?’ then maybe this post is not for you but read here for more details:

OK they are all from The Guardian my lefty online newspaper of choice!

Benjamin Studebaker has a very detailed look at the issue: http://benjaminstudebaker.com/2015/09/08/do-european-states-have-a-moral-duty-to-accept-syrian-refugees/

Clam Colossus

I replied to Gevlon:

Sorry I know you like to be controversial and I really like your EVE commentary but I disagree strongly.

Like so many, you have missed the whole point. These are people in need, not a wave of immigrants come to mess with rich Europe by choice. Given the option stay and die or leave and try, I think I know which option most of us would take. SO what if the are illiterate (has this been tested?), we are not exactly as educated as we like to think.

In times of need humanity should help out others, as we ourselves liked to be helped.

Yes I agree the issue has brought to the forefront the situation of ‘us and them’… the have and the have nots. In this vast interconnected world we live in. It has yet to be acknowledged the deeper causes, the society we live in where the wealth and well being of a few is protected and maintained at the cost of the many. And I am not going to wander off into some communist fantasy… the society we live in is flawed on a humanitarian level. Our governments and leaders, and our industry are driven by short term goals.

Pragmatic change is required… that never happens… change will happen now or in the future and what we are seeing now is probably just a minor rumble but the cracks are showing… we ‘RICH’ westerners with our computer games and luxurious life (honestly compared to the majority of the planet we have it good in Europe) cannot handle being human enough to help out poor, illiterate and helpless people fleeing from conflict. We can do it in someone’s else’s garden but on our own pristine lawn…oh no!

Methinks we doth protest too much!

WATCH AND BE INSPIRED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GX6a2WEA1Q

But discussion is good and I am glad we have free access to voice our views. Keep on rocking the boat, but preferably the EVE players community boat… 🙂

The video link above is to the ex president of Uruguay (the poorest president on Earth): José Mujica speaking about humanity. It does not matter how many times I watch this video I feel inspired and ashamed…

Gevlon replies so did I:

‘They are indeed a wave of illiterate rent-seeking leeches who want to get to the most profitable position.’
Will translate this into:
‘They are indeed a wave of PEOPLE who want to get to the BEST position.’
Don’t we all do this, given that we all strive to better ourselves… and in the world today to stay put is to be neglected.

Do you passively sit back and live your given role or do you go out and try to improve yourself… your position, your standing… your profits…

Now the impetus to change is war, they up sticks and arrive at a refugee camp… they can stay or go… they make the choice and strive onwards to that ‘golden’ land of Europe!

If Northern Europe was engulfed in ice (war looks unlikely but you never know), pushing us northerners to rush south to safety, would we be welcomed with open arms in this modern world we helped create? Surely not! We would be relegated to camps… but those striving to better their position, improve their life, for their families, their future would still try to keep going.

Would you?’

My last reply ended up being I know the answer rant! Which I of course do not…

‘OK so almost there then…

I do like that you are offering them an ‘equal chance to work.’

At least you stand by your beliefs: be you local, native or immigrant same playing field (It never is, by the way, immigrants have to fight for acceptance in all cultures, there are always obstacles to integration.)

I am an immigrant, although one from GB to Denmark and later Argentina, and have experienced first hand the difficulties of adapting to different cultures and ways of doing things. I never did go out and take benefits, other than those provided for all. Education, water, infrastructure, healthcare, government, policing, etc.

Being one of those that believes in the social state and having never seen any proof that it is anything but beneficial, indeed Europe is a conglomeration of social states: all shapes, sizes and shades.

But the modern world needs to start looking past its limited short term future. We the people should start demanding it. The Human race as a whole needs it, and to be honest I am quite ashamed at where we are. The world could be so much a better place…

No amount of local politics will change the world… a new world order is needed…

For this generation I have no hope, those in the developed world born into luxury on the back of social prosperity but at the cost of an underdeveloped third world, and a damaged planet.

I hope the coming generations work out a better balanced way of LIFE. Human life is social and its future I believe will be based upon social systems to distribute resources as needed.

Modern technologies which are at the moment being used against us may one day free us all. Only the rich and powerful can process MASSIVE DATA, when we are all informed finally we will we be able to make the right decisions. So weirdly enough I have come full circle. Illiteracy, or rather literacy will be key to the changes to take place, education and striving to improve the intelligence of a population will start to drive societies. The under educated masses, kept ignorant to be malleable will be no more. Some kind of Meritocracy will be need to be developed but monitored and interacted with by an informed and active population. A population that will be able to think for itself and react correctly to stimuli.

Cor blimey you got me into the realms of Science fiction, apt for an EVE blog…

Anyway… to those in need, offer a helping hand. Some will abuse it but in general giving is rewarding, in all things.’

So the New World Order of capitalistic planet sucking itself to death needs changing…HOW and WHEN are mysteries… but I hope others will at least think about it!

Enough is Enough

COC: What the…?

17 Sep

Yeah I am having a forced leave of absence from LOTRO (…and EVE) due to wife’s PC dying… in its last days I was occasionally able to log in to get my LOTRO hobbit gifts but was unable to do much more before the CPU overheated and died…

And what timing, my mum was over for her annual visit for 3 weeks and even though I managed to take a weeks annual vacation in conjunction with my Mummy’s visit work is chronically understaffed and ergo I am working like a mad beaver. Not even time for silly drawings :(… well we all need downtime and I still pumped out a few of them.)

So how is this little gaming junky surviving… well not so well!

My only gaming at all has been on my android phone…grabbing those idle moments to experience the black on white pleasure of seeing:og_mainpage

…flash by, to be replaced by the pleasant green and cartoon like town replete with walls n small animated denizens. Yeah I have my little virtual ‘town’ in Clash of Clans… you could say that I have been playing with my CoC!

And I am really enjoying it, not in the same way I enjoy an immersive game of LOTRO and not in the way I enjoy getting frustrated in EVE Online… but in a relaxing, ever growing, slowly changing trip towards the next Town Hall level up and its consequential awards and game changing implications in base design and battle strategies. Its a slow ZEN like activity, where not doing much and having to wait is actually rewarding. And I do have an almost guaranteed 3hrs of commuting to fill each day…

There are of course moments of intense action (attacks) and times of complete frustration (Oh did I really just fuck that attack up that badly!) and even moments of sublime stupidity (Why did I just use nearly half of my slowly earned gems to finish building those barracks – compounded by even more stupidly letting my nr.1 son play One Eye (Pudding Monsters) on phone only to find him in CoC spending the other half of my gems!)

I am now about to upgrade to TH7… all my structures are maxed out (well except for my gold mines and they are catching up fast!)

I am in a nice relaxing mainly Filipino Clan…’Tsu Clan’, they didn’t name it after me but it is nice to see ‘TSU’ slowly rising up the clan leaderboard 🙂 The other clan members are helpful and nice, very chatty mostly in Taglog, but this post is due to this mornings chat with Bhagwan about me having sons and being ‘older’ than most within the clan… I gather I am probably the Grandad of the clan but that is just another wonder of online gaming that fun can be had by mixing with gamers of all ages. None of it really impacts the gaming itself rather it just adds to the experience.

4 barbies

I do not know how long my wife’s computer will need to be fixed but I do know that I will probably be playing CoC for sometime to come, long after my morning sessions of middle earth in LOTRO and occasional deep immersions to outer space in EVE Online have started again.

United colours of CoC

United colours of CoC!

When life is too busy to complete your projects its time to cut back and relax…right?

NOT in TSU’s world…

LOTRO play is minimal, slow crawl to server mergers has started…

Opopa LOTRO fan-fiction bogged down in devilish philosophical detail…Chapter 3 is over a week late…it will BE, it will!

Doodlings from my commute to work have been pushed aside by inane Clash of Clans android play… JUST STOP!

My Eve Online play has sunk into the depths of minor skill tweeking… and creative doodles in response have also started to decrease… Rixx my online muse has also taken a vacation, I’m confident it will pick up again soon…

WORK has got super busy, and will only get worse on the run up to Xmas… 1 QC editor left and 1 on placement to New York! OK that’s not healthy!

So it’s time to get that illustrated Ork poem done… !

Draft digi doodles to base drawings on have started to coalesce out of my head…

ork on my fork

Oh yeah, Mork the Ork on my fork is BACK!

There is an ork on my fork
Is a bit of a dork
Called Mork from York
Feeds off pork and cork
At work likes to roar “Rork!”
That ork on my fork
Worked forking pork
Not po’kin and fo’kin cork
For k, (in Spanish, ‘por k’
Porque? no se!) Wor’ k! Cor! k!
That ork on my fork
Forked tongue ork twisted
Torked norking sork zork
Korky oorky gorky tork
Borkin’ mad that Ork
On my Fork

LOTRO: 2 Liebster again!

Haffle from Level Up Haffle (formally the Malaysian Gamer blog) has liebered me …it’s no hassle so I’ll hustle some answers!

Tsuhelm/TsuEveCreative, quirky, fun and entertaining with everything Lotro and Eve, Tsu’s brilliant mind will be suited for this!’

WOW if I ever write a book I want that on the cover! THX 🙂

The Questions

How did you get into blogging?

I had tried to blog at its height when I was out travelling: 2 years Spain, Europe tour and then South America. But I was uninspired and soon stopped. After settling down in Argentina, bored at work, I had just started to get into LOTRO big time, I decided to start a gaming blog, this time I simply couldn’t get the dammed top back on and my madness has been pouring out ever since… surely a mismanagement of time at work but I do not regret a single word blogged!

Describe yourself using a song…

FIRESTARTER – Prodigy…all punky and spiky on the outside but inside am just a big old soft pop kinda guy!

Favourite video game character and why.

Oh this is gonna be a tough one, historically would be Sonic cos it was the first ever gaming character that caught my imagination in game and without!

What was the first video game you played?

Probably space invaders…

My top 15 games, chronologically ordered: https://tsuhelm.wordpress.com/2014/03/25/lotro-how-the-hell-did-i-get-here/

Favorite snack while gaming?

Beer…or whiskey… not really a snacker more of a glugger!

If there was one video game out there that you’d like to see made into a movie (that isn’t already a movie or in production), what would it be and why?

Vagrant Story cos I just want to see more of the twisted world of Valendia, and if they made a movie they may even make another game!!!

Describe your perfect holiday.

Beach, waves, surf, beer, frisbee, happy kids n wife, good food, good weather (but not so good that it removes the waves!) and friends. FUN! Maybe a good book or some portable gaming. Throw in a great pub and a pool table, a swimming pool and I am pretty much in heaven.

Beer, wine, liquor or alcohol free?

Beer (although I have cut back to only on special occasions), so nowadays its wine, wine, and wine. I do have rather good taste in cocktails too… I find nothing wrong in drinking a well-crafted cosmopolitan! Oh and a nice single malt is a luxury I rather like from time to time, the closest I can afford in Argentina is a glass of JD every so often!

If you could work at a game company/developer of your choice, which would it be and why?

SEGA or SQUARE … cos I am not WORTHY! I would be a willing door mat for them!

What was in your opinion, the worst video game you’ve ever played?

Too many to list, way too many!

Kindle or books?

BOOKS! Pages were invented for turning…My fav books post

Ikeas Bookbook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOXQo7nURs0

The wrap…

If you think you are suffering from deja-vu you are not:

OK Haffle I am not gonna pass around the liebstick but as you are now going to be blogging about your other gaming interests as well, how about sharing your TOP ALL-TIME 15 GAMES… I wonder if it resurrects this old doozy!

24 Jun

My extended stay in EVE Online has delayed my return to LOTRO, it’s been a refreshing break but I am getting LOTRO withdrawal symptoms so I will be needing to organize at least 1 day a week for some serious LOTRO’ing soon!

Tsukuld looking up at the stars…somewhere out there Thursday TSU is flying around!

Would ya LOTRO n EVE it?

17 Jun

TSU's EVE N Thorizon

updating lotro n eve

My gaming choices updating together, tried playing together but my wife’s computer just couldn’t handle it: well it struggles with either solo so I am not that surprised!

But if I had a better computer I think they would pair up quite nicely as at times EVE can be quite a time sink for such little activity, rewarding activity but there are only so many timers you can follow!

Tick Tock

.. aha run Tsukuld, my Dwarf Rune keeper in LOTRO through a couple of quests, grind some slayer deed and be able to hop over to EVE at a moments notice to start the next timer a ticking…

Tock Tick

One day i will make this a reality…if you can…

‘Adam and Eve it’!

LOTRO: Hobbit Poppin Only!

8 Jun

My new gaming regime is suffering immensely, the stresses and strains of RW and family life, in fact I find my work more flexible in regards to my blogging needs than my wife and kids are to my gaming needs. Instead of my old 13.5 hrs ish of gaming a week I just had a week of about 7 hours!

So having just started to wet my toes into deeply immersive EVE Online I am left with negative playtime for LOTRO and this is a shame as I am finding out that I love both games (at least so far) and they provide different rewards.

EVE is only winning as it has a 30 day free trial period that is slowly ticking away…indeed after technical issues to begin with and RW family time I think I am halfway through the free time with only 5 days of limited gaming!

During this period I have popped into LOTRO for free hobbit presents and to say hi to kinnies…

LOTRO is obviously a game I ‘know’ and can jump straight into, whereas EVE is at the moment, and as I keep discovering, a bottomless hole of stuff to learn. The LOTRO reward is obvious and almost immediate and the EVE reward is in slow, sometimes painful, realizations and occasional ‘Eureka’ moments. After 5 days in EVE I have yet to finish the tutorial and I have been known to complain of LOTRO’s tutorial and starter area which can be blasted through within an hour at most!

I will be back in LOTRO sooner rather than later, the breath of fresh air or more appropriately the emptiness of vacuum, is reinforcing my love of LOTRO.

So Tsu will continue to boldly go where no Tsu has gone before whether it be outta space or in Middle Earth…

EVE: ning… new blog rises!

2 Jun

‘Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.’

Dylan Thomas

eve n thorizon

My growing fascination with EVE has led to the creation of a separate blog… 1 blog was bad, 2 blogs could be a little mad. It may be a tricky balancing act…especially as I am really trying to stay focused at work!

Anyway you are all welcome to follow TSU as he attempts to play EVE ONLINE…he keeps failing (hardware issues!) at the moment and instead gets to explore the plethora of EVE Online blogs and sites that litter the byways of the internet!

Same stupidities, different game…

EVE: PLEXing for Charity…

28 May

Scott Manley, I wonder if that’s a real name! His accent reminds me of home which is odd as I am a half Welsh Yorkshireman but is indicative of the lovely diverse nature of British life 🙂 Here an EVE player demonstrating his humanitarian side in RW while maintaining his hard-boiled in game persona!

And here is a nice vid on things to know before starting:

Good stuff, as soon as I can I will be tinkering with settings to try and run again on my wife’s computer…before my 30 day trail ends… I am also contemplating trying to get my original char created 7 years ago and forgotten unfrozen by contacting support…

And finally another EVE guide for getting started for beginners…

Crossing my fingers will be getting into EVE soon…not in the biblical sense of course that would really piss my wife off and probably if did survive I would not be able to play any game for quite some time let alone be allowed to play….
