TSU minus LOTRO = unhappy TSU

29 Dec

I can’t remember the last time I played LOTRO…

I think we had just repaired my wife’s PC and I spent over a day to get it reinstalled, I had been busy over the anniversary event (Update: Gaming draggin! – 1st Jun) festival and thought life was going to be rosy but my disillusion with LOTRO quickly reappeared, I think I basically have lost my way and don’t know where I want to take my lv65RK.. I had taken him out of Rohan where to be honest he was enjoying himself (except for the ‘my-little-war-pony’ bits) for the anniversary event, after which in LOTRO: Gettin INTO LOTRO again… 26th APR I decided to go to Great River where the game quickly got boring again…

On the 29th of July (GAMING: Pokémon GOne?) I again tried to play LOTRO due to my nr1 son wanting to play… I even created an account for him but he is too young and even with my coaching and help he quickly lost interest… and that was that…half a year later I have not played again, not helped that for 5 month’s my wife’s computer has been out of action I blame the installation of MINECRAFT for the kids which I reckon has permanently damaged something in the motherboard as now every couple of weeks it just crashes again… and MINECRAFT itself is unplayable!

The MINECRAFT adventure was amazing though, I am a late comer to it, and the kids both got hooked straight away, I liked the more lethargic survival approach but found it got too easy too quickly with nothing to really keep me pushing forward… My nr2 son turns out to have the ability to create huge and complex houses… not bad for a 4 year-old! Nr1 son used it mainly to create ingenious machines he had seen on YT and indeed we have had to curtail their YT watching habits away from the same old MC videos… especially one episode of Lucky Blocks pistols…  which has 3.3+million views… which my wife and I felt were mainly from our 2 kids…

As the PC (when working) cannot run it anymore we installed it on the ipad and nr2 again started doing remarkable things, nr1 was quickly found to be sneaking back to YT all the time! Presently they are both fighting over the new Mario Run app (which is having problems with a lack of free content I gather…)… when not being banned from any access due to bad behavior…

So back to MY gaming… and my thoughts of coming back to LOTRO, somehow the news (I popped back to LOTROPLAYERS to check if true… LOTRO Players News Episode 182: What What Whaaaaat??) that LOTRO n DDO will be spinning off from TURBINE awoke this desire to play again…

I then stumbled on Malaysian Gamer’s YT video ’10 Reasons to play LOTRO’… and oh boy was desperate for my wife’s computer to be fixed… it has been and I am still itching to install LOTRO yet again… it will probably take a day… so maybe over the new year holiday (we got the 2nd of JAN free from work for some weird corporate reason!) …I just wonder how long it lives this time… surely 2017 must bring a new PC into the household?

Oh another nice YT video byThomas Huayra: ’10 lifehacks for LOTRO’, some stuff to try out here:) Also great to see Nakt is still LOTROing and blogging, and he mentioned our old clan leader Taltoz is still also in game 🙂

Undoubtedly if I start playing again I will probably start blogging again, you have been warned… TSU’s mad ramblings could be coming back soon… unsubscribe now… ur last chance to preserve your sanity.

So sans LOTRO what the hell have I been doing?

Now having moved back into Buenos Aires (6 blocks from Congress no less, sounds good it’s actually not that nice an area…) I have been swimming more than I did when I actually had my own pool, but am still not in body-surfing form… I ripped a calf muscle playing Frisbee with myself 😦 that didn’t help but hope to get back into chucking plastic again this summer, I walk to work most days now – 15 blocks so a little more activity and a HUGE saving in time. (I saw a BMX for sale yesterday…so tempted!) Work has been a huge focus for 2016 which contributed heavily to my blog’s demise, simply no time to spend at work in blogland! But 2017 looks very quiet, to the extent that my job (the whole department’s in fact) looks in danger which could  impact quite negatively on future gaming plans… touching wood it works out, although being made redundant in Argentina is quite a generous process and would easily fund my family’s return to Europe. But being jobless anywhere is not good at this time and OMG 2016 has been bad for politics and world travelers such as myself, especially as I am married to a non EU citizen 😦

Wife n aforementioned kids of course eat up lots n lots of my time, I have really enjoyed Stranger Things, Happy Valley, The Night Of, Game of Thrones, WESTWORLD, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Preacher and Star Wars Clone Wars (all episodes seen for first time :)) . I survived a plethora of others, notable mentions to How to get Away with Murder, Gotham, and Night Manager!  Started and gave up on quite a few too, the biggest disappointment being 2nd season of Mr. Robot.

I half-heartedly started a TSUISM project for blasts of creative madness, incorporating some of the LEAN culture work is attempting to instigate (I won’t go there…):

So no gaming then?

Computer basically out of action (so no EVE online either!) or in use by others so I continued my casual gaming on my phone(s*) in the shape of CoC, CR and MCOC. All of which I am submerged in to differing degrees.

*Why phonesI was always suspicious of geezers with more than 1 mobile, now I pack 2 myself (and I am not counting the ipad which is best for MCOC!) Now I have 1 phone for CoC, CR and phone calls and my wife’s old phone which runs MCOC, mine did not, it’s kinda laggy, a little too small and has a tendency for the screen to come off but it’s my fall back for when nothing else to do or I need to play MCOC and family ipad is in use.

th9… just before…

th 10 🙂

Backdoor is painful!

cmon get it front door!

2016 Xmas tree on my border 🙂

oh events 🙂

I left my dead Philippine clan and joined a British Clan. It’s super-active nowadays but unorganized and unsettled. The leader is permaAFK! So we have a constant stream of new recruits and we are struggling to maintain a core of good players; we had a huge fall out and lost 2 good factions – one of which is continually inviting me to follow. Funnily one of the newer members is also one of my best friends from GB who reached out over FB as a fellow CoC player and he decided to join the same clan :). Notice I start by talking about the alliance and other players, in the end the longevity of this (all?) casual game is about the people u play with not really the game itself…

I recently reached th10, always fun starting a new level, I should have kept levelling my walls n heroes but to be Frank (who I am not!) it was SIMPLY BORING! So th10 antics ahead… its early days as u can tell by the pics… not even done a new base design and my bastardized WAR base which was a Clash Tutor th9 thumper design is a truly weird beast. I am now nr1 base in WAR which is quite a daunting role as to be honest I am too casual a player to hold that position… but I suppose I am the most consistent donator so I get away with it 🙂

I have come so close to stopping playing this game… I got invited to Supreme Cream’s CR group and it made a huge difference initially with the then ‘NEW’ tournaments (which turned out to be crock!) and the constant donations of cards which still help a lot 🙂 But recently actually playing the game became a bore, there was simply no necessity to play… as a f2p player gold costs are too high to contemplate nothing less than monthly goals! Then during the last update SUPERCELL introduced the Clan Chest and suddenly the game came alive. There is a 2 week on off cycle but I missed the thrill of piling up crowns after only a day of rest… I even started to mess around with Mortars just cos I wanted to. I have used a cheap deck since day 1 and only really changed it recently with the addition of the Black Knight (Monty Python sketch)

So it goes, soon I will reach lv10, so tougher castles… maybe by end of 2017 I will have all my cards that I use raised to level 12… I doubt it but I suspect I may still be playing.

And last but not least the game that has consumed my idle moments to the ire of my wife! Our alliance has grown to full size and it’s become more stable but it’s such a DEMANDING MONSTER! It’s a casual game that sucks up your life… and of late for pitiful rewards… as the core mechanism for progress is the chance opening of hero crystals for better n better heroes (or using to improve those you already have) and in which I have had the longest streak of crap… so why is it such a TIMESINK…again it’s the people! Yes being in contact with 30 other players 24hrs a day in game and also via FB and now LINE, who are constantly pushing u to log in, do something, reach yet another target for another reward which may help gain another crystal… Can you tell I am close to my limit? It was fun and when I was busy at work it was actually useful, I was applying and practicing team building ideas which I could replicate as best I could in my workplace (My department works in 2 sites, one in Buenos Aires another in Manila, and the company is Global. The alliance has members in Europe, US and me in Argentina!)

But I do love beat em ups and I grew up on MARVEL so this game hits those buttons hard 🙂 When you do have a row of good fights (when the special button on teeny tiny touchscreen works!) the adrenalin kicks in and the RW simply vanishes – all focus is in the game, those are the sublime moments when you realize that you LOVE this game.

There is always something to do in game as well, it may be tedious and repetitive (aren’t all Beat Em Ups?) but each fight is practice and can lead to improvement, I have found that I can even win some fights without being able to see the screen… they recently introduced an AI mode for the most basic quest fights which does an OK job of removing some of the tedium. The main alliance focus is the Alliance Quests and Alliance Wars which have the biggest rewards (much of which is hidden behind shitty RNG) but working as a team is essential to attempt the harder maps(AQ) or beat the harder opponents (Wars). And the whole alliance is needed, all 30 players, to really make it work which is why it can get quite stress inducing 😦 Arguments flare up, no shows and wrong paths end in dissension, its all quite dramatic at times. Maybe too much so, and I am seriously questioning how much longer I can soldier on, I helped start the group up and the leader understands I have a wife n kids and a busy work life too so I do get by.

I reckon after the new year I may get some luck that should drive me onwards, if not a break could be coming… maybe a LOTRO break (not away from but BACK to!)

So TSU is back maybe for just this quiet end of year day at the office… I wish you all well in your lives be they real or virtual.

LOTRO: BEWARE Shrew droppings!

15 Jul

The introduction of Giant shrew pet obviously has its downsides! Unfortunately for Tsukuld not a very pleasant downside!

Tsukuld had been busy wrapping up Thornhope in Entwash, only Unbridled Wrath left to do when I decided it was time to dump some of the junk that had collected in his bags… which led to tasks been handed in and an LI being deconstructed and finally to checking out the post box, I have been away from LOTRO playing EVE the last month and a half and wow my alts have been returning unopened mail by the cart load! So it was time to start the old inventory shuffle, best place for that is crafting hall in Bree…

And then it was time for work…not exactly exciting but needed.

Oh and THX for Taltoz’s small parcel of relics…always find a use for them.

28 Apr

So with no more festival inanity I moved Tsukuld back to Rohan, (Thx to TALTOZ kinnie leader recommendation – basically stop wasting time TSU get to cap come and have fun with us! Most kinnies are at cap already.) bartered another piece of Counselour gear, almost complete but no more set bonuses to be earnt. Also jewelry from Rohan trader: overall a boost to will and tactical mastery…

Then back to Harwick…

The powerful yet little war pony and ran straight into a wall…I forgot about the auto stop! That brake is useful, must move it closer to my WASD keys…maybe make it nr1! Let’s call it the WOAH key!

Tsukuld is sent out into the Wold marsh bog swamp areas to kill flies and salamanders…and a salamander raiding party… war pony and swamp…an interesting combination!

I charge in and fire off a red skill (I must admit to not knowing what any of these skills do) it aggressive at least but then I am gone and the salamander is behind me…oh dear…I pull back hard on ‘S’ and slow to a standstill and dismount…Whoa key forgotten about again! I walk back quite a way and using normal RK rotation proceed to fry all and sundry including the raiding party! Without even a thought to getting back on my rocket powered mount. Now if it fired rockets as well…maybe homing missiles that would be cool…

Anyway, landscape quests also encountered…more flies to be killed, nests to be found, undead to be destroyed…source of corruption to be found… Dwolung Hole cannot be entered. I mount up again and blast past all, picking up a nice cloud of mobs which plods after me, ‘Whoa’ key forgotten again… dismounting they swarm Tsukuld and nearly kill him… thankfully I am much more secure in the use of my RK ‘bubbles’ and with some clever bubble blowing am able to slowly burn off the unwanted crowd of swamp life.

Back into Harwick, my little war pony is superfast which is a bonus. Tsukuld gets to meet the Thane of Harwick, Harding…lots of har har- he promptly kicks Tsukuld out of town!

Now in Feldburg camp; more Questing to be done…’On Notice!’ quest to be done, which I gather requires doing nothing directly? More swamp life to be ridden down and killed…oh and a warg raiding party to be hunted and boars too. I find this warg raiding party waiting just outside camp and I don’t even try to fire a random mounted skill…Tsukuld just dismounts and blasts em all to fiery kingdom come.

Back into the swamp…back off the horse to cook wildlife, I sense a pattern developing here…

Time for work… luckily(unluckily?) I do not have my own RW horse to go to work on so…

for today…

LOTRO: Pet Farming East of Esteldin!

13 Apr

I took Tsuchump my long neglected lv35 champ out for a spin, I was enjoying my still uncompleted TP grind run with Madtsu (lv23) that I fancied taking a champion higher into the later levels…maybe even into Moria! It had been some time since last play, indeed I was VIP as all trait slots are available which is the advantage he has over Madtsu…but he was sporting a 2-handed sword and was in red DPS line! Thanks to Taltoz, kin leader,  he got a nice new set of armour 🙂

I normally play my champs with 2 swords and in AoE line…indeed it is my thrill and continual motivator to try and take out as many mobs at the same time and still walk away… safe to say with that big clubbing sword the speedy AoE dynamic was somewhat off! Nakt was online from my kin and as always this Grumpy dwarf champ needs to be active or gets grumpier so was nice to follow in his footsteps through Tucky runs, a Great Barrow instance and even a Rivendell Iorbar’s Peak instance. Was so close to lv37 when fatherly and hubby duties where called for…

Must protect the egg!

This morning I remembered why I had taken Tsuchump to North Downs away from Evendim as I really do find it slow going and thats without the tedious swimming! Hillmen and Warg enmity race deeds still had to be done and as mobs still on level…(green!) could also get some class skill deeds done.

ScreenShot00047 ScreenShot00046

But upon arrival I found the whole hillmen area infested with pet classes (captains and lore-masters) they were soaking up all the hillmen… they left open a couple of patches…not even sure that was by design with which I was able to get half way through the 250 hillmen needed for hillmen enmity II. Normally is even quicker, today I used a 2xdeed and skill deed…

All was going great until I realized that my Swift to Anger deed was not moving, I did think it really odd that this deed among all my others was still open…so today I sent my first ticket to TURBINE…lets see if they can fix it OR am I doing something really stupid?

LOTRO: Mad Tsu and Familly

1 Apr

Madtsu is running through Ered Luin, started at lv16…and the advantages of being ‘on level’ (well ish) demonstrate themselves in the YELLOW champs ability to take out big crowds together…and on level can easily pick up a nice pack of cannon fodder by running by.

So first stop is to hop to house in Thorin’s Hall, grabbing dwarf exploration deed by simply running around Thorin’s Hall and using stable travel to get to Gondamon via all stops on the way…(See basic guide at bottom of post for more details)

Next Thrasi’s lodge and here I diverge from the normal Ered Luin TP run in that I decide to take out hendroval and dwarf bandits now. My mad champ does not let me down and soon slices his way through the 2 slayer deeds, (it felt like I spent longer trying to find a rabbit in a trap!)

So onward to the beginning, Celondim, simple quests and grey mobs… but by the Vineyard Gobs are green and queue up to be slaughtered:

ScreenShot00116 ScreenShot00117

And in Duillond the gobs are still green, only just and quickly fall to mad sword swipes:

ScreenShot00118ScreenShot00120 ScreenShot00121ScreenShot00122

Gordamon and time to complete wolf slaughter, there is a small wold den on top of the hill just outside the North gate (follow cliff to right and then head back along cliff top to find it… round them up and KILL!

That wolf bit through me!

Here is a You Tube vid of a champ with about a 70 mob pull!

And now for something completely different…

During my travels on Withy I take screenies of other Familly kin members I bump into:

2 kinnies serendiptious extreme!

CEBU always has an alt in the AH!

Taltoz shared 5 pages from the forgotten inn Journal of Captain Rabghul for 5tp and 20 meds which I needed for my last piece of armour 🙂

Taltoz helped with my mark and med problem by running Tsukuld through some BB’s…                   If u build it Tsu will use it!

Basically all I did while doing the BB’s, I thought I was doing ok until I realized that Taltoz was also killing stuff with a ballista! Really they should give a kill report at the end!

You have arrived at the BOTTOM!

As I stated above I would include the guide to Ered Luin I use for TP grinding…

Am in the process of optimizing as I still spend too long doing this run, over 2 hours!

LOTRO: MisDeeds 1

25 Feb

Tsukuld with the help of Taltoz, Family kin leader, who ran my little RK through a couple of instances to get him to LV75…ding-a-ling my little war pony is ready to ride…

That dinging got me to bonging:

‘Bing bing bang a bang a bang bing bong bing a bing bang a bong
Binga bing a bang a bong bong bing bong bing banga bong
Bing bing bang a bong bong bing bing binga binga banga bong
Bing bing bang a bang bang bing bong’
MinistryJesus Built My Hotrod

…and instead of heading of for mounted combat I chose to use my extended LOTRO time each morning during my 11 day vacation (that was the plan that didn’t really get realized!) to wrap up some older areas I had neglected…or at least try to get some of the deeds done.

Had fun in Old Forest… not so much in Great Barrows but then I bumped into a kinnie running some alts around and I tagged along in follow and that was that… BREE METADEED DONE!

Rath Teraig explored…SARNUR left for another day…

That smelly PIE deed was left alone…leftovers that no-one wants!

The right to fight wights

RK vs Wight: fight night!

Tsukuld has a TWIN?

After wrapping up 99.99% of Red Maid I was stumped for a while to where the heck the spring was! For the History of the Red-maid Quests (Vessel of Purity, For the Love of Nature , Reclaim the Lost Maiden.) Twas outside and you bring the purified water into the instance… I had confused the quests… Thanks to LOTRO WIKI and patience of kinnies who I think tried to explain this to me repeatedly…OOPS!

So Lone Lands Epic quests wrapped as well as METADEED 🙂

Only Exploration deeds to be done and done they were rapidly, a few EPIC quests were done as well but as soon as METADEED was done Tsukuld was off…

Now the going got heavier as Tsukuld had basically hopped over the Trollshaws… and my little RK decided to take all the quests given along the way, the many auto daily slayer quests made reaching Kindred with the Elves of Rivendell a breeze (was close already from rep items), was the first time I had quested here since the revamp and must admit it does flow mush better.

The slayer deeds here are all a bit of a drag though…

1st: WOLF slayer in the little wolf den with slow spawn rate and irritatingly stealthed!
2nd: TROLLS are easy (when OP) I remember struggling on level on other chars…
3rd: WIGHTS are easy enough, run back and forth in Nan Tornaeth BUT only at night…  day broke and had to come back again later to wrap up!
4th: WORMS (not crawlers that look like worms but wyrms!) find the small lair around the circular lake at Cirith Ulunn… and run around alot!
5th: CRAWLERS these carrion are found all over Trollshaws but nowhere is really good for quickly farming but basically kill all that you encounter and wrap up serendiptiously while doing ‘worm’ slayer above in Cirith Ulunn.
6th: GIANTS go to giant town also good for worms (not crawlers!) but I had done that already…and amazingly there are tons of resource nodes for Lebethron and Dwarf Iron! Too many to farm alone!

Completed quite a few quests, some of the EPIC book and got the METADEED 🙂

Is that you Tarpolo? Get that Bog Lurker off your head! You don’t know where it has been!

I did intend to head into the Misty Mountains next but instead decided to go for a swim in Everswim…popped back to Bree to sort out some of the mountains of crafting mats I have collected…also put up lootbox stuff into AH for any kinnies that may find them useful…Tsucan my neglected warden (lv16!) finally leveled his scholar to Expert, oh shucks now he needs to go to Rivendell…ok bags empty Tsukuld onwards…

What u staring at Tsukuld…?

nicesky landscape

Everything is so pretty in Evendim…

Deed grinding is ongoing and trying so far spectacularly unsuccessfully to avoid picking up quests, since arriving at Tinnudur and moving North to Ost Forod, have taken and completed them all…my only defense is that there is a Warden of Evendim deed for doing 90 quests!

I found Whiteberry’s Tales of Arda deed map section again yesterday, all of these deed maps are awesome!

Bandits(Tomb-Defenders) done on the island of Rantost, Gauradan done in the hills of Emyn Uial, and Giants also slaughtered here. Salamander slayer continues on Tyl Ruinen… there is a slight infestation of em!

Tsukuld hopes to wrap up here by the weekend before heading to ANGMAR and MISTY MOUNTAINS…will it never end?

LOTRO: All The Fun On The Farm – NOT!

4 Jun

Tsuchump entered Evendim at lv30 ish, rather than North Downs. I simply fancied a change and a kin member would also be able to help…

Well my nr1 son soon arrived on the scene and spoilt all the plans…he sent me North away from my quest tracker into a den of wolves:

My son was screaming for me to kill that monster and I was a bit perplexed at first as instead of wolves he was pointing at a blur of armour that was killing all the wolves in very quick succession!

My friend Naktie had turned up, lv95 champ was here to kill and my son just wanted to wander around aimlessly 😦

Later in the day, nr1 son distracted, I was able to explore Evendim a bit more…I had only ever passed through Oatbarton and I was expecting more to be done but upon arrival Tsuchump could only find 1 quest to be done ..so off to Northcotton Farm…

And what a quest it is…Northcotton Market is actually a large  hedge enclosed maze. I have to admit to getting lost more than once.

Getting in was the first hurdle…look my level was too low …after wiki searching this is the entrance to the North Cotton Farm Instance…for lv65… so leaving this for later I headed into the maze proper…I found Albin Northcotten who promptly set me to help other hobbits…I could tell that this was an adventure I was bound to regret!

The full list of tasks can be found over on the lotro wiki, 4 hobbits to be helped, each with 5 parts some easier than others…

So turned on [the lights ], picked up ho’s from the fields, before picking up some weed [it grows freely in the market square]…more weed [pipe weed this time] followed by cookie baking and finally played with the animals…

Tsuchump what you doing in that field with those sheep?

Chicks in the field too!

You would think that was enough but no! Back to Oatbarton to help out Nibs Chubb and Hal Gamgee!

Eventually wrapped it up and headed off to Dwaling…a glass blowers camp perched on a hill surrounded with Goblins…really?

After wandering around and killing  Goblins, I decided I would like to pop back to Bree so changed my waypoint…wouldn’t it be nice to have another…yeah I got lots of TP so popped to store and found out that HD was on sale again…20% off…thankfully not a weekend only thing…so about 400 TP short of getting the HD expansion!

3,436 TP for HD!
